More than ever. And it takes a village, and some new ideas, to raise a child.
Early Ideas has been set up to design, develop and build ways to promote early childhood development. We want to build things for everyone, but are especially focused on the least well-off. We bring international experience from academia, industry, government - and our lives - to develop our ideas, to try to build both with and for babies, toddlers, parents and carers.
Intro
We are - like a baby - young, but ambitious. We want to make things that both work, and that can work at scale. We mostly come from backgrounds in, or still work in, the public sector or academia, but we also recognise how important business - when done right - can be to reaching scale. We’re excited by new technologies, but we are also cautious and know that they can harm as well as help. We think that through bridging some creativity, new ideas and new investment to the science of the early years we can have a huge impact on children’s futures.

Early Ideas was founded in 2023 by Rob Hughes and Al van Heerden. We collaborate closely with Paul Atherton, Majo, Kev and Olli at Fab Data, and have assembled a brilliant group of advisers too.
